Description: A beignet (pronounced: ben-YAY) is a French-style doughnut made out of choux pastry or yeast dough that looks like a small pillow covered with powdered sugar.

Directions

  1. Combine 2 cups of beignet mix and water; mix with a spoon to create dough
  2. On a floured surface, flatten/roll dough to 1/8 inch thickness and cut into 2 1/4 in squares
  3. Heat 2 inches of oil in skillet to 370°F
  4. Fry squares of dough (baste both sides) until puffy and golden brown; drain well on paper towel
  5. Cover generously with powdered sugar and enjoy!
